Richard Meyers is known to have enjoyed popular poet Dylan Thomas during the early stages of his life.
As Tricks Of Kiss
This is Richard Meyers' first poem in any literary magazine. Below is a poem written in 1946 by one of Meyers' early favorite poets, Dylan Thomas. Meyers' poem uses very brilliant language that is reminiscent of Dylan Thomas' work. Also, the first line of both poems is the title, and therefore, both poems build off of one small idea. Meyers' poem is full of lines that sound beautiful but do not have a very clear, specific meaning. The first sentence, for example, rolls off the tongue of the reader very nicely, but, similar to the first mini stanza in Thomas' poem, the lines dance around the real meaning. Both Meyers' poem and Thomas' poem do have an intended meaning, but it is hidden beneath a bunch of fancy, misleading lines.
